UNFPA Areas of Support to Censuses Most of the support to censuses is provided by the Country Offices of UNFPA. This includes: -Making Chief Technical Advisors available to support census projects in NSOs -Hiring consultants to support specific aspects of the census process, such as the PES, data capturing, questionnaire formulation, cartogra- phy, preparation of thematic monographs, etc. -Purchase of equipment -Census monitoring (e.g. DPRK) -In rare cases, direct support to census field work

UNFPA Areas of Support to Censues The second level of support is through the Regional Offices. This includes: -Brokering direct technical assistance through recognized academic/research institutions and NGOs in the region -Coordinate with regional organizations (ESCAP, Asian Dev. Bank, ECLAC, CARICOM, African Regional Comm., etc.) -Maintaining a data base on consultants with particular kinds of expertise from the region -Promoting South-South cooperation within the region -Promoting inter-regional cooperation (e.g. REDATAM) -Regional training courses (more on that later) -As a last resort, direct technical assistance through missions to countries

UNFPA Areas of Support to Censues At the central level (Technical Division at HQ in New York) Assessment of Capacities Exercise: UNFPA COs, ROs, SROs, HQ, as well as NSOs (for South- South cooperation), with respect to cartography, data editing, coding, analysis, etc. Census Portal / Data Tracking Tool: overview of resources such as legal documents, question- naire, planning documents, funding proposals, technical documents, training materials, etc. Sabrina will briefly demonstrate the application.
