Beatitudes How can we live them?

Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. It is more important how you act than what you have. Keep your worth in perspective Everyone is equal Humble, kind, forgiving, considerate, and helpful

Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted It’s OK to grieve God, through the Holy Spirit consoles us. We are called to comfort one another How can we comfort those that mourn?

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land Biblical understanding of the word “meek” is patient Take your time

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied Most everyone wants to do what is right. You need to do what is right What is the best way to live and act?

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Show kindness toward others How can you show mercy? When might you need mercy?

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. When you work towards housecleaning your heart, you will see God. We sometimes need a Spiritual clean-up How can you clean your heart?

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Peacemaker is not something passive but active. Put your self interest aside and help to resolve some conflict. Everyone can be a peacemaker.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom for heaven Stand up for what you believe in You will be at peace with yourself when you stand up for what’s right

Your task There will be 3 groups of 4 and 1 group of 5 Each group must develop and perform a short skit for each of the Beatitudes. The skits must show how you as 8th graders can practice these Beatitudes. You will perform your skits tomorrow starting a t 9:o5.
