Ball-E by Lee Tsakh EEL5666C Fall 2011 Final Oral Presentation

Operation 1.Search for a target wearing a certain colored shirt (like bright red) while avoiding obstacles. Color is chosen during calibration. 2.Center on the target once it is found. Move to proper distance from target. 3.Launch tennis ball at target (simulates a difficult shot in tennis). 4.Report successful launch by flashing an LED at a certain rate.

Sensors An IP Cam to find a target and center on it. Sonar to determine the distance to a target or an obstacle. IR to determine if obstacles are close to the sides.

Actuation and Platform High RPM motor attached to wheel for launcher. Solenoid to drop balls into launcher. Two wheels and a caster for movement. Space frame design for platform for maximum rigidity (necessary to support heavy launcher battery and absorb vibrations from launcher).
