Compassion

What Is Compassion? Compassion is investing whatever is necessary to heal the hurts of others.

Compassion What Is Compassion? A compassionate person goes beyond empathizing with the stalled motorist and helps fix the car.

Compassion Sacrifice Look for ways to show compassion every day.

Compassion ” “ In democratic ages, men rarely sacrifice themselves for another…. They are glad to relieve the sorrows of others when they can do so much without much trouble to themselves. — Alexis de Tocqueville

Compassion for Developing Compassion

Compassion 1 Stop to Help Make relationships a priority so that you will know when others need help.

Compassion 1 Stop to Help Develop coworker relationships so that you can work together effectively. Take time to have real conversations. Keep your finances and schedule in order so that you can help when you see a need.

Compassion Listen Carefully Identify as closely as possible with what the other person is experiencing. 2

Compassion Listen Carefully Realize when someone has not understood. Ask questions in order to understand the other person’s experience. When someone’s responses surprise you, ask questions instead of reacting negatively. 2

Compassion Clarify Your Response Identify your responsibility in each relationship, and respond appropriately. 3

Compassion Clarify Your Response Consider the ethical standards that apply. Deal directly with the individuals involved in each situation. Help others find their own answers. 3

Compassion Get Involved Participate in others’ lives. 4

Compassion Get Involved Make new people feel welcome. If you have the means and the jurisdiction to help coworkers, do it. Help without expecting recognition. 4

Compassion Heal Hurts Faithfully show compassion regardless of the apparent results. 5

Compassion Heal Hurts Check back with those you help in order to ensure the need is met. Invest in others despite recurring struggles. Realize it is your job to show compassion, not to “solve” others’ problems. 5

Compassion

1.When has someone stopped to help you? How do you make time to help others? 2.How do you listen and ask questions in order to identify root issues? Who sets a good example in this area? 3.What guidelines do you use in order to identify your responsibilities? 4.When have coworkers or family members experienced pain or difficulty? How have you gotten involved? 5.How can you endure setbacks and continue investing in others?
