Questions so far? Questions so far? What questions do you have regarding the class? What questions do you have about the final weeks of class?

Final Class Assignments  We close out on Unit 8 this Tuesday – if you submitted late work from Unit 7, I will accept this up to Unit 8 with no penalty (due to the holiday).  Unit 9 runs 1-13 – Your final projects are due Tuesday, January 19, 2010 – midnight!  I will be grading all final work after 1-19 – and submitting grades shortly after that.

Final Project For your Final Project, you will assume the role of a social science researcher in charge of developing a new crime prevention program targeted toward juveniles in the k-12 school system. In your paper, in which you are required to write 4 to 5 pages (not including the cover and reference pages) that will demonstrate your critical thinking as well as creativity, you will present an analysis of your overall program.

Final Project (cont) There are currently several crime prevention programs found in k-12 schools nationwide. Using those programs as models, identify what works and use these as a basis for your new program. Your analysis of your program should include, at a minimum: the program goals and objectives; the program's target population; how and by whom the program will be delivered; how the program's effectiveness will be analyzed; and how the objectives will be evaluated. Remember to cite applicable crime prevention theories and concepts you have studied throughout the course as they relate to your program.

Final Project (cont) As background information, you must use at least three sources outside the textbook, which may include academic papers and journal articles or books available at the Kaplan online library or other source. You may include only one website as a source. All citations must be referenced according to APA format.

How this final graded? Content – you applied all questions to this project (per syllabus) – utilized critical thinking skills! Grammar Mechanics APA Formatting

Final thoughts Any questions at this time? DON’T FORGET: Last day to submit final project is January 19, 2010!
