Journal As You Go

Keep a Journal  As you're reading the book, keep a two-sided reading journal. The left side should have quotes from the book and page numbers. The right side should have your questions, thoughts, observations, revelations, etc.

For Example  Write quotes from your book that you think seems important. Also include the page numbers. (This will make it easy on you later.)  Your questions, thoughts, observations, revelations, etc.

Hunger Games Example 1. “Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor!” (pg #) 2. “Katniss, the girl who was on fire!” (pg #) 3. “I want to do something, right here, right now, to shame them, to make them accountable, to show the Capitol that whatever they do or force us to do there is a part of every tribute they can't own. That Rue was more than a piece in their Games. And so am I.” (pg #) 1. Repeated at the beginning of every Hunger Games; almost a sick joke 2. SYMBOLISM! She is lighting a fire. She is giving people hope. 3. Katniss takes a stand. You go girl! 4. I’m not sure who I would choose Peeta or Gale.... Poor Katniss.

Requirements  Must be legible or typed  Should have at minimum 30 quotes and explanations, thoughts, questions, etc.  Must number each entry.  Put some effort into it. (You are going to use this later.)
