Egg in a Bottle

The power of expansion and contraction of air. Egg in a Bottle The power of expansion and contraction of air.

Materials

Materials A hard boiled egg A bottle (glass container) A heat source (fire)

Method

Method Peel the Egg. Apply heat source to bottle. Place egg on bottle neck. Wait...

Method

Conclusion

Conclusion The heat source expands the air - some of which then escapes from the bottle.

Conclusion The egg seals the neck of the bottle

Conclusion The heat source goes out and allows the air to cool.

Conclusion The air contracts. The difference in air pressure forces the egg into the bottle.

Clean up.

Clean up. Wipe clean the neck of the bottle. Tip the bottle upside down. Blow hard into the bottle. The contents are ejected. This uses the same science - but instead of heat, the energy is provided by my lungs.
