Lecture notes will be available on the web site for the course.

Exams Exam dates will be announced later. Exam #1 week of 12/17/07 Exam #2 week of 1/14/08 Exam #3 week of 2/11/08 There will be no make-ups for missed exams during the quarter. Missed exams will count as a 0. However, the lowest grade is being dropped. THE FINAL EXAM IS NOT ONE OF THE GRADES THAT WILL BE DROPPED, IT IS THE LOWEST OF THE THREE HOURLY EXAMS.

Weekly Quizzes Homework/Quizzes: Homework assignments will be given out on a weekly basis. Only 2 or 3 of these will be collected. Quizzes will be given weekly. There is a total of 10 quizzes OR homeworks. Your cumulative score on your homework assignments and quizzes will count 100 points toward your course grade. These weekly assignments will be available on myCourses from noon on Thursday until 8 p.m. on Friday.

Final Exam Final Exam is given during finals week. It is cumulative. It will not be dropped.

Final Grades PointsGrade 360 or betterA B C D 239 or belowF

No Cheating Plagiarism or cheating in any form will not be tolerated in the course. Any case of plagiarism or cheating will result in an automatic grade of zero for the exam, and a memo documenting the event will be sent to the student's department. A second occurrence will result in a grade of "F" for the course and possible disciplinary action from the institution.

Plagiarism Plagiarism includes not only copying results, but inappropriate collaboration on exams or quizzes. Homework assignments can be done as a group and such collaboration is legitimate. Quizzes and exams are to represent your work and effort and only your work and effort – if someone shares the method for solving the problem it is just as bad as if they share the answer.

First Topic We ended with Lewis Dot Structures We begin with 3-D molecular models of structures.
