You have been on the board for a few years and are proud of the accomplishments of the foundation. What would you like to be able to say to new board members? What was your most valuable experience as a student in architecture school or other higher education? How would you like to see such an experience still be offered? Identifying a series of temporary guerilla “art” installations in celebration of spring, and taking that vision through fundraising, approvals, resolving design & logistics, and rallying volunteers for fabrication and installation. What recent trends in architecture, fine arts or performing arts have you become more aware of in the past five years? How did you become informed about these shifts/trends. Social media? Advertising? Word of mouth? What else? Everything is less refined and more raw and direct, from building finishes to “outing” of restaurant kitchens to black box theater. If the PVAF should suddenly become endowed with one million dollars, how would you suggest we allocate it? Develop a series of programs, including school curricula (and teach training) and design thinking for civic leader training for new elected officials and general design education for citizens who volunteer on their HOA Boards, Civic Associations, etc. December 5, 2015PVAF 2020
What is the most effective fundraising strategy you have seen used by a nonprofit you have supported? How could a similar strategy be adapted to help PVAF reach its goals? The Building Museum has several, including installation of conceptual frameworks from big names for which they charge the public to enjoy. Their even better scam was their putt putt golf where they charged the firms to let the firms create greens with firm-provided materials, then charged the public to come play.
