Bellringer  In your NOTEBOOK, write down today’s date, then answer the following question.  Which POV uses the words “you”, “your”, and “yours”?  Which POV uses the words “I”, “me”, and “my”?

Reading Workshop  minutes  Remember: You need to be reading. Not talking, going to the bathroom, doing homework, goofing off, sleeping, distracting others, etc. You may listen to music as long as it is kept quiet and kept in your pocket.  You receive 5 pts. for being present and on-task during Reading Workshop.

Theme Practice  “Utzel and his Daughter, Poverty”  You have 15 minutes to complete the worksheet over the short story. This IS for a grade.

Mini Lesson  Read through each song on the handout and above the title, write down what you feel the theme is for each of the songs. (Handout)

Eyes Past Print  “The Climb” “The Climb”  “One Tribe” “One Tribe”  “Help!” “Help!”  “Wheel of the World” “Wheel of the World”  As you watch the videos, listen to the lyrics, music, and watch the actions of the characters to find the theme of each song.

Writing Workshop  After listening to each song and watching the videos, complete the questions on the handout, identifying theme of each song and giving evidence for each.  Hand in the completed worksheet into the tray when you are done. This is for a grade.
