Governor’s Honors Program 2015 Parent Informational Meeting

What is Governor’s Honors? The Georgia Governor's Honors Program (GHP) is a four-week, summer residential program designed to provide intellectually gifted and artistically talented high school students challenging and enriching educational opportunities. The program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom, and that is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders. The Georgia Governor's Honors Program is fully funded by the Georgia General Assembly and operates at no cost to participants. High school sophomores and juniors in public, private, and home schools are eligible for nomination in one of twelve areas.

How was my child nominated? Cherokee High School teachers were asked to nominate their best and brightest in certain nomination areas.

Oct 6- School application due Oct 8- School based interviews Oct 13- School finalists announced Oct 16- County application due Nov 3- County level interviews Nov 11- County finalists announced Dec 16- State online application due Jan 15- State semi-finalists announced Feb 13- State Interviews Mar 25- State Finalists announced *see timeline

What do I do now? Each nominee MUST complete a school based application by Oct 6. These applications must be turned in via Google Docs to Mrs. Jones. The link will be ed, sent in Remind and posted to my website. The school based application should be completed using the live document on Mrs. Jones website.
