Higher Education Act Last reauthorized a decade ago. Has been extended several times- most recently through the end of April House and Senate have each passed their own bills. Current status- pre-conference. Main policy issues: –College Costs –Accountability
Student Loan Markets Concerns have been raised by for-profit schools, lenders, and the media. To a lesser extent, higher- cost, small, non-profit institutions. Access to private educational loans vs. federal educational loans. Concerns about red-lining certain colleges. House and Senate legislation has been introduced.
