Layered Curriculum You Decide!

What we are studying this year! Foundations of Government/Citizenship The Causes of the Civil War The Civil War Reconstruction Immigration and Industrialization The Progressive Era Imperialism World War I The Great Depression Economics Arizona History

What grade will you choose? For each unit, you will contract for a grade: A, B, C If you do not complete at least the C level requirements, you will receive an “I” for “Incomplete.” There is no below average in our class

C Level Activities These activities are the key concepts every 7th grader in Arizona should learn You may earn a maximum of 50 points for the C level

B Level To earn a “B” you must first complete 50 points at the C level Once completed with the C Level, you choose one of the B level activities You must use higher level thinking skills

A Level Complete required C level Complete required B level Choose one A level activity Deep analysis Most require a writing component

Whatever grade you choose, ALL students must… Take notes daily Complete vocabulary activities Participate in whole class and small group activities and discussions Complete all daily reviews

Finished already?? If you complete all activities in the level you have contracted for and there is still time left, you will move on to the next level

How do I earn my grade? You will create the majority of your work on your own in class Mrs. Helm and Ms. Palmer will monitor and assist all students as needed Student must show his/her work to the teacher and orally defend and explain You will only receive credit if the assignment is complete and accurate
