EXPERIMENT PROJECT Project title (optional) Your name | Your teacher’s name | Your school

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Type your question here. (This is the question that your experiment answers.)

PROJECT OVERVIEW Type a brief overview (1 – 3 sentences) of how you will try to answer your question. In other words, what will be your set-up?

RESEARCH Summarize your research here in five bullet points: – 1 st point – 2 nd point – 3 rd point – 4 th point – 5 th point

VARIABLES Independent variable: The one variable that you purposely change and test. Dependent variable: The measure of change observed because of the independent variable. It is important to decide how you are going to measure the change. Controlled variables: These are the things that are kept the same throughout your experiment. Control Group: A test group that does not receive the independent variable (not all tests have this)

HYPOTHESIS Based on the research you have done, you will be writing an answer or solution – your best educated prediction – to your question. Make sure you write down your hypothesis before you begin your experiment. Be sure to use the “If …, then …” format.

MATERIALS Type a detailed list of the items you needed to complete your experiments. Be specific about the amounts used.

PROCEDURE List all of the steps used in completing your experiment. Remember to number your steps. Add photos of your experiments.

DATA/QUANTITATIVE & QUALITATIVE OBSERVATIONS It is easier to understand the data if it is put into a table. Insert your data table (quantitative) on this slide. Use spreadsheet software, such as MS Excel to make it easier. Make sure all data is clearly labeled. Also, add descriptive observations (qualitative) of what happened during your experiment.

DATA/GRAPHING Showing a visual of your data makes it easier to understand. Add your graph to this slide. If you used Excel for your data table, it will create a graph from the information in the spreadsheet. You can also create a graph at: Whatever you use, be sure all graph requirements are added.

CONCLUSION Type a brief summary here of what you discovered based on the results of your experiments. You need to indicate the following: Whether or not the data supports the hypothesis. Explanation of why, or why not. What errors did you make, or what variables did you not control.

WORKS CITED Be sure to include print and electronic sources and put them in alphabetical order. citationmachine.net
