PVK Features Optional Minimum and Maximum Volume Stops –Allows the customer to tailor pump flows to his exact needs.

Optional Minimum Volume Stop Standard Maximum Volume Stop

PVK Features Caution: When using a minimum volume stop a full flow high pressure relief valve must be used.

PVK Pump Features Quiet Valve Plate & Port Plate –Minimizes noise at typical electric motor speeds.

PVK-140 Quiet Valve Plate

PVK 270/370 Quiet Port Plate

PVK Pump Features Quiet Valve Plate –Minimizes noise at typical electric motor speeds. This is accomplished by porting the trapped high pressure oil in the cylinder barrel, through the de- compression orifice, into the pump case

De-compressed oil is bled into the pump case instead of the inlet port.

PVK Pump Features Quiet Valve Plate –Minimizes noise at typical electric motor speeds. This is accomplished by porting the trapped high pressure oil in the cylinder barrel, through the de- compression orifice, into the pump case. Compression Slot slowly compresses the oil in the pumping piston chamber, before being fully connected to the outlet port.

PVK Control Specifications

PVK Do’s and Don’ts The Do’s List – Check Alignment (.005 TIR) – Fill the pump case! –Verify shaft rotation. – Connect case drain line directly back to tank with no restrictions, full sized and separately.

PVK Do’s and Don’ts The Do List – Use a fast acting spike relief valve. – Back off the compensator and relief valve adjustments prior to initial start-up.

PVK Do’s and Don’ts The Don’t List or the “If it breaks, you bought it list.” –Do not restrict the case drain line. No filters (if one is used make sure it is sized for peak case flows and install a 5 psi check valve in parallel.)

PVK Do’s and Don’ts Case Restriction cont. –No in-line (Hedland style) flow meters, they tend to be quite restrictive, the flow path through the meter is only a ½” inch diameter hole. If using one please, install a ball valve in parallel with the meter. Keep the ball valve open when you are not monitoring case flow.

PVK Do’s and Don’ts Case Restrictions cont. – No heat exchangers. –What does a heat exchanger need to operate properly?

PVK Do’s and Don’ts Case Restrictions cont. – No heat exchangers. What does a heat exchanger need to operate properly. Answer: Turbulent Flow or pressure drop. Turbulent flow scrubs cold oil off the tubes and mixes it with hot oil, thus creating cooler oil.

PVK Do’s and Don’ts Case Restriction cont. – No other return or drain lines. Whew, thought we’d never get through case restrictions, didn’t ya. Inlet – No inlet strainers or filters.

PVK Do’s and Don’ts Inlet cont. – Strainers and filters can cause cavitation. This is especially true as temperature and viscosity change. What is cavitation?

PVK Do’s and Don’ts Cavitation: Creating a low enough pressure to allow gasses normally in solution, to become free state. On the inlet of a pump this “free state gas (air)”, creates a bubble. When the bubble re-compresses (on pressure side of the pump) it implodes. This implosion generates temperatures in excess of 2300º F.

The Effects of Case Restriction Will cause the piston shoes to lift off the swashblock. –Maximum differential pressure for a PVK pump varies depending on rpm. It can be as high as 10 psi at Vickers PVH 7 psi Rexroth AA10VSO 7 psi Oilgear PVWH 10 psi Oilgear PVG 60 rpm Oilgear PVM10 psi
