Presentation transcript:

Okay students this is what you will be required to complete before this semester is over. You will have two weeks to work on it in which we will spend many hours in class. This is a classroom assignment and none of the work should be done at home. It is a PowerPoint on every planet, the moon, and the extraterrestrial things that effect our solar system. There should be one slide on each planet and one slide on three things that effect our solar system. You must include a picture of the planet and what you thought the most important fact was about the planet, plus its order of orbit around the sun. Here is an example…

The Solar System Created by: your name The Solar System Created by: Your Name

MERCURY Mercury has now been visited by two spacecrafts, Mariner 10 and MESSENGER. The closest to the sun and the first planet in order.

VENUS Venus is the second planet in order to orbit the sun. It is the brightest object in the sky except for the Sun and the Moon.

EARTH Earth, our home planet, is the only planet in our solar system known to harbor life. It is the third planet in the orbit of the sun.

MARS Mars is sometimes referred to as the Red Planet because of its red color. It is the fourth planet in order to orbit the sun.

JUPITER Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun. It is also the largest planet in the solar system.

SATURN Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun. It is the second largest in the solar system.

URANUS Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun. It is also the third largest planet in the solar system.

NEPTUNE Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun. It is the fourth largest planet in diameter in the solar system.

Asteroids Bodies, primarily of the inner Solar System, that are smaller than planets but larger than meteoroids. (sometimes called minor planets or planetoids)

Meteorites is a natural object originating in outer space that survives an impact with the Earth's surface.

Comets a small Solar System body that orbits the Sun and, when close enough to the Sun, exhibits a visible coma or a tail.

MOON The moon is the only natural satellite of the Earth. It is the second brightest object in the sky after the Sun.
