Comparison : Google Docs requires web access to be used; whereas, OpenOffice runs after it is installed. Google Docs needs internet and one can't operate without that but Microsoft Office requires download on desktop and then it operates without the Internet access. A document is saved on computer's local in MS Office while Google Docs saves a user's documents to 'the cloud,' or Google's servers.
