Planning a Display Steps for you to follow

Decide Why Purpose, theme, and location of display Category or categories of merchandise to be displayed

Decide What Which specific goods are to be displayed and learn about them –Who buys them? –where are they used and how? –what are the special features?

Make sketches Make sketch (brainstorm) Decide which sketch to use as a blueprint –some designers will even make a mock-up, or model, of their display to get a feeling for the end effect, the pattern and balance

List Materials Needed Specific merchandise fixtures props lighting signs showcards background floor coverings

Assemble Materials Needed: Sometimes subassembly required –specifically printed signs –specifically designed electrical fixtures

Construct display carefully Start by preparing display area –dismantle old displays –clean windows –sweep floors Build the display in logical sequence –eg. Interface patterns may require back items to be positioned first. –“Plan your work; then work your plan”

Evaluation Evaluate display and make adjustments as needed.
