Got Money? How Did the British Government Raise Revenues After the French and Indian War? ££££££££

The British gov’t borrowed heavily from British and Dutch bankers to finance the French and Indian War.

The French and Indian War nearly doubled Britain's national debt.

The British gov’t, seeking sources of revenue to pay off the debt, attempted to impose new taxes on its colonies. Tea Sugar Paper Quartering Troops

These attempts were met with stiff resistance, until troops were called in so that representatives of the gov’t could safely perform their duties.

These acts ultimately led to the start of the American Revolutionary War.
