How has medicine changed??? Medicine has been a big part in keeping people alive and healthy. When people got sick, people didn't know the cure on how to solve it all. But now people have found out way more. The medicines that have been made have saved lots of lives, our life spans are longer. We have scans and electrical machinery to help people and doctors to find out exactly what was wrong but they never used to have high tech devices in the 1840’s so they couldn’t find out what was fully wrong with people. Medicines and devises we now have… -Liquid -Drugs -Scans -X-rays -Operations -Utensils And more

Info on medicine The Maori’s undoubtedly had a primitive medicine of their own The first medical man to set foot on nz soil was Monkhouse ( captain cooks surgeon) Volcanic glass was used to open abscesses and removed peoples neck glands! Tannin was blown on to wounds or bleeding surface through 6 inch bamboo shoots as a hemostatic Obsidian ( volcanic glass )

MONKHOUSE Monkhouse was the first ever medical man to step foot on New Zealand soil. Became captain cook’s surgeon in 1769
