What is Craft and Structure? Craft and structure refers to the ways an author uses literary devices, conventions, organization, and narrative elements to tell a story, persuade, or inform an audience.

How do authors do this? 1. They choose how to organize and structure their text.

How do authors do this? 2. They use narrative elements (plot, character, setting) effectively.

How do authors do this? 3.They use literary elements like pacing and flashbacks to create mystery, tension, or surprise.

How do authors do this? 4. They send a message (theme) with their writing.
