Consistent problem

THESIS template (use it or not, the choice is yours) During the time period, _______________ changed from ___________ to ________ because________ (reason why). However, _______________(continuity) remained the same because____________.

Problems observed in student responses:  they misuse of evidence by placing events in the wrong time period  they make reference to global processes happening over a vague period of time without any anchoring dates  they create lists of information rather than well-structured arguments More hints:  Organize paragraphs by CHANGES and CONTINUITIES  When speaking of Changes: be clear! (ie: change from what?)  Make sure and include a discussion of GLOBAL CONTEXT (ie: comparisons to other regions, connections to global processes, interactions among regions)  ANALYZE the change and continuities: WHY?  DO NOT discuss events that are not related to the questions  DO NOT include long sections of material that are outside the timespan of the question

Top 5 Things to Remember??  Characteristics at the beginning of the time period?  Key Changes from beginning of/during period?  Key Continuities from beginning of/during period?  Reasons for continuities and/or changes?  World Historic Context?  Thesis MUST answer the question that is asked Analyze the changes and continuities in rock and roll concert performances as observed by watching the following music video.
