Slow Food was started by Carlo Petrini and a group of activists in the 1980’s with the initial aim to defend regional traditions, good food, gastronomic pleasure and a slow pace of life.

The Slow Movement began with a protest against the opening of a McDonald's restaurant in Rome. This sparked the creation of the Slow Food organization. CREATION OF SLOW FOOD

Slow Food is an international non-profit, eco-gastronomic, member- supported organization founded to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world.

Their approach is based on a concept of food that is defined by 3 interconnected principles: GOODCLEAN FAIR

It tastes good and gives us pleasure to eat it. Of course, it is healthy.

production that does not harm the environment
