Story Today is Thursday. Li Ming and his friends Danny, Jenny are going to the Great Wall. They will walk to the bus stop to take a bus there. They find the Bus 919 and get on. In an hour, they arrive at the Badaling Great Wall. The Great Wall is very long, so Danny’s feet hurt. He is a little sad. Now listen to the tape.

Li Ming: I have a map of Beijing. Here it is. Look! We can take Bus 919 to the Great Wall. Mrs. Li: That ‘ s right. And there is a bus station near our hotel. Look! We will go down this street and turn left at the traffic lights. There is the bus station. All: Hooray! Let’s go! (They walk to the bus station. There are many buses. They find Bus 919 and get on. In an hour, they arrive at the Badaling Great Wall.)

Jenny: Here we are! Danny: Hey, everyone! I know a Chinese saying: a man who has not climbed the Great Wall is not a true man. Are you true men, Li Ming and Jenny? Jenny: Danny! Stop talking and start walking! Danny: Okay, okay! How long is the Great Wall? Li Ming: It is more than 6,500 kilometers long! Jenny: Wow! That is very long! Danny: Ouch! My feet hurt!

1. We will go down this street and turn left at the traffic lights. 我们将沿着这条街往前走，在交通灯 处向左转。 turn left/right at the + 序数词 +turning 相当于 take the + 序数词 +turning+on the left/right 。 Turn right at the first turning. = Take the first turning on the right. 在第一个路口向右拐。

2. … a man who has not climbed the Great Wall is not a true man. …… 不到长城非好汉。 本句包含一个定语从句， who has not climbed the Great Wall 是 a man 的定语。 The man who is eating bananas is my father. 正在吃香蕉的那个男人 是我爸爸。

3. It’s more than 6500 kilometres long! 它（长城）有 6500 公里长！ 要表达某人（物）的量，常用以下句型：某 人（物） +be+ 数词 + 形容词。 The river is 50 metres wide. 这条河 50 米宽。 Li Ming is 15 years old. 李明 15 岁了。 more than 超过，多于 相当于 over ，用于数词前。 We have stayed in Beijing for more than five days. 我们在北京已呆了五天多的时间了。
