2/22/10 Part 2 Language Diversity

2/22/10 Our Case… Student: Fome Querishi (6th grade) Speaks Urdu (“That’s what they speak in Pakistan”) Moved to the US within the last year…now in NYC. Previously went to an all-boys school where Islam is taught and practiced Fome was born in Libya and actually lived in Tripoli until her was 8 years old. Oral Level: Low Reading level: 1 (nonreader) Vision problem (dry watery eyes) Dresses like other boys (you wouldn’t know his cultural background without asking Doing homework and he continues to be respectful and well behaved. He’s willing to work in groups, but hasn’t seemed to develop that many friendships outside of ESL class. Caring parents (but…they don’t speak English)

You don’t go School then you have to work in Pizza hut, Plaza Pizza e.t.c. You do robbery and said bad word to Other people. If you want to go to schoo. You don’t do your home. Its not Told you to stay 9th you don’t stay. You don’t go to school. Then you pay.
