Habits of Mind “Remaining Open to Continuous Learning”

Remaining Open to Continuous Learning Day #1 Discuss with your pair partner what this Habit of Mind entails (means). Discuss why this Habit of Mind is significant (important) in daily life. Be prepared to discuss your responses with the class.

Remaining Open to Continuous Learning Day #2 You’ve heard the saying: “You learn something new everyday!” Share with your pair partner what have you learned (i.e. shortcut, names, facts, apps, game, etc.)since yesterday.

Remaining Open to Continuous Learning Day #3 Share with the class a moment when you learn something new about a topic which you were already fairly familiar. Describe the feeling you had when you discovered information that you could add to your schema.

Remaining Open to Continuous Learning Day #4 Let’s add to your schema today! Write a topic on a piece of paper (i.e. baseball, pageants, knitting, Hip Hop, Twitter, job applications, etc.). Then, matriculate around the classroom to 5 different people, showing your topic to them. See if someone knows something about the topic that you did not previously know.

Remaining Open to Continuous Learning Day #5 With your pair partner, identify 3 benefits of remaining open to continuous learning for the duration of one’s life.
