Academic Teacher Resources EVOLVE AS AN INDEPENDENT LEARNER Student Wall Planner and Study Guide

Become an Independent Learner  One broad goal that all students work towards being a better learner is that they should (1) not depend heavily on others.  Students should seek to become better independent learners.

 In the case of independent learning, true progress is more accurately determined by their (2) learning behaviour when confronted with challenging or extended work. Become an Independent Learner

u (9) The development of a student into an independent learner (3) is a gradual process

Take Responsibility and Act  Students who are becoming more independent in their learning (4) should not always seek help from others as their first step.

(5) Independent learners get better and better at seeking more information on their own and (6) use that information to develop some of their own solutions and ideas first. Take Responsibility and Act

 Independent learners will become (7) self-reliant and tend to approach others only for general direction or advice.  Stronger independent learners also treat their (8) ‘struggles’ as new challenges to learn from.
