What is Copyright? CopyrightCopyright – What it is? – Copyright and Teachers – Example 1 – Example 2 – Observing – Test Yourself – SummaryWhat it is? Copyright and Teachers Example 1Example 2Observing Test Yourself Summary “Copyright refers to the legal rights to an original artwork ’’ (Turner, 2012). It is a form of protection ‘original works of authorship’ for creators of published and unpublished pieces of work (US Copyright Office, 2012). Whether it is the whole or part of the original work, conditions will apply for people who breach the copyright laws.

Copyright and Teachers CopyrightCopyright – What it is? – Copyright and Teachers – Example 1 – Example 2 – Observing – Test Yourself – SummaryWhat it is? Copyright and Teachers Example 1Example 2Observing Test Yourself Summary Teachers have more of a lean way when coming to the copyright laws however each piece of activity sheet must be correctly cited of where and whom they got it from. Copyright in educational purposes is noted as a fair use as long as it is used for a non profitable cause, the amount of photocopies is kept to a minimal and the purpose is not to replace the original work (Turner, 2012 pg13-14).

Observing Copyright CopyrightCopyright – What it is? – Copyright and Teachers – Example 1 – Example 2 – Observing – Test Yourself – SummaryWhat it is? Copyright and Teachers Example 1Example 2Observing Test Yourself Summary As a Teacher I can relate to the Blackline Masters rules when photocopying or using teaching resources for productive teaching in my classroom. Blackline Masters is where student workbooks and teachers resources are sold by the publishers with licences enabling teaching staff to copy sheets for their own educational learning tasks. (Blackline Masters, 2010) All schools provide these licences with the resources so all teachers can use them to full potential to teach.

Test Yourself CopyrightCopyright – What it is? – Copyright and Teachers – Example 1 – Example 2 – Observing – Test Yourself – SummaryWhat it is? Copyright and Teachers Example 1Example 2Observing Test Yourself Summary 1.) Why is copyright a serious offence? 2.) Why can teachers print minimal amount of photocopies for their class? 3.) What is example one worksheet missing to be acceptable with the copyright laws? 4.) What is Blackline Masters?

Summary CopyrightCopyright – What it is? – Copyright and Teachers – Example 1 – Example 2 – Observing – Test Yourself – SummaryWhat it is? Copyright and Teachers Example 1Example 2Observing Test Yourself Summary Copyright is a serious offence that prevents people from copying directly from some else’s work. Whether is may be written on a piece of paper or published it is still someone’s piece of work and therefore it cannot bread the copyright laws. Teachers have a little lean way with these laws. They have what is called Blackline Masters which enables them to have permission to make multiple copies out of teaching resources and other materials to use specifically for educational purposes. Copyright is taken seriously here in Australia and must be avoided with all documents.
