Habit 6 SYNERGIZE

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. ~Helen Keller

SYNERGIZE IS: Working together Open- mindedness Celebrating differences

SYNERGIZE IS NOT: Working Independently Thinking You Are Always Right Tolerating Differences

What is Diversity?

YOU! Culture/Heritage Family Likes/Dislikes Attitude Religion Talents Beliefs FriendsChoices Experiences Knowledge

We are all a minority of one.

We all learn differently: Linguistic- reading, writing, telling stories Logical- logic, patterns Kinesthetic- touching, body Spatial- images, pictures Musical- sound, rhythm Interpersonal- interaction with others Intrapersonal- through own feelings

We all see differently:

You were born an original, don’t become someone else’s copy. ~anon.

The giant Redwoods, or sequoia trees, can reach heights of over 300 ft. They grow in clumps and share a vast array of intermingled roots. Without each other, they would blow over in a storm.

Synergy! Now take one Baby step and when you meet a classmate or neighbor with a disability or impairment, don’t feel sorry for them or avoid them because you don’t know what to say. Instead, go out of your way to get acquainted.
