Form You have learned about shape, form is the 3dimensional shape. So instead of a circle the form would be a sphere. Instead of a square it would be a cube. What other forms can you name?

Value The lightness or darkness of an object on a picture plane. Value is one of the best ways to take a shape and make it into a form.

A few key things to look for:

Here is a basic value scale:

Different techniques Hatching, Cross hatching, Stippling, Traditional.

Hatching Using lines next to each other to create value. The closer the lines are together the darker it will appear the farther apart the lighter it will appear.

Cross Hatching The same principle as hatching, the difference is you use crossing lines as well making it easier to get a darker

Stippling Using a series of dots to create value by having them closer together or farther apart. This takes the longest and it takes the most patience.

Now you Draw Draw your own sphere and label all the key terms. Make sure you use the whole value scale. That means you will have white and black and all the shades in between. When you finish it should look similar to the next slide.
