Insight from of the Bible

Proverbs 12:16 (NIV84) A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.

Psalm 1:1–2 (ESV) 1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

Leviticus 19:18 (NIV84) 18 “ ‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

First, God is aware of our circumstances. He knows if we are stuck in a difficult marriage. And each moment we must prepare ourselves to protect our families by growing in the wisdom of the Word each day, so we can respond when the time arises.

Second, men we need the Godly insight of wise women in our lives. We were designed to from creation to need it.

Third, we need to ask, “Am I the go to person of wisdom and insight in my family? Am I the one everyone knows will listen and offer Godly counsel?” If not, why not.

Fourth, has this story revealed foolish behavior in your own life? Do you rage and rail? Am I frequently drunk or even occasionally drunk? What do I need to do to change that? Do I take revenge in your own hand? Or do you wait upon the Lord for him to act upon evil for you? Do I listen to my wife and ask her godly opinion?

Five, we need to know the Word—Abigail knew it and was able to speak it to her king. And David knew the Word and responded it from Abigail’s lips because he knew she was speaking the truth of God. If we want to avoid foolish sin, we need to look to the book which was written 2000 years ago. Nothing modern compares.
