STEM schools in NTN PBL supports and teaches problem-solving, innovation, and invention. STEM Topics are integrated into the entire spectrum of classes Increased graduation requirements in math and science Offering of electives (PLTW is the most common) and extracurricular activities aligned with STEM Partnerships with community members in STEM fields Students emerging from the school are “STEM-capable” and they show a desire to enter into STEM fields and/or majors.

Support for STEM Intensive training with PBL For first 4 years, each school has a coach, who visits 1x/month in the first year, then less as the years go on. “Meeting of the Minds”: a content-specific day of Professional Development and collaboration among teachers of similar subjects (One per semester) National conference in the summer 2 Network-wide math coaches who visit all the schools One coach is a STEM-specialist Online platform ( “Echo” ) that allows for inter-school remote collaboration, and tracking of student performance in Enduring skills
