The Caribbean Islands Festivals and Food:  Carnival is one of the most widely celebrated holidays in the Caribbean islands.  Carnival is a time of festivals, feasts and parades before Lent begins.

The Caribbean Islands Festivals and Food  The Caribbean's foods reflects its very diverse cultural background. Okra, yams, snouse and curry are all very popular dishes and flavors.  The Caribbean also has a very unique music style…Jamaica is the birthplace of reggae.

The Caribbean islands The Islands Today:  Puerto Rico today is a US commonwealth- Puerto Ricans are US citizens but do not have voting rights.  Haiti is the poorest country in the Americas due to corrupt governments and an earthquake that left around 230,000 Haitians dead. Capital-* Port- au-Prince  The Dominican Republics capital city is Santo Domingo- the 1 st permanent European settlement in the Western Hemisphere.  Beach resorts in the DR are very popular with tourists.
