Contract An agreement between two or more parties for the doing or not doing of something specified In a contract there are agreed upon rules/understandings that are to be followed and honored.

Criminal Law vs. Civil Law Criminal law = when somebody breaks a law he/she is a criminal. They have committed a crime. If guilty, punishment is often in the form of loss of freedom (imprisonment) Civil law = when someone violates a contract. The violator is NOT a criminal.
