Corporal Works of Mercy Chapter 16 Lesson 3

Corporal Works We need to care for the physical well being of others. Jesus shows us by example this is important, especially when we think, “What would Jesus do?” Let us all work together to take physical care of those in need, especially those whose lives we touch around us.

Feed the Hungry ► This also includes give drink to the thirsty. ► Every person deserves the necessities of life. ► We may know of places in the world where people are starving to death. ► There are people in our own country who go hungry.

Clothe the Naked We must ensure that people have clothes to wear, for protection from weather and abuse.

This leads to charity There is an obligation of charity to be sure that all men have what is necessary for life. What charities in your parish or community provide food/drink and clothes for the poor?

Visit the Imprisoned ► There are many people in prison and many experience conversion. ► Prisoners need encouragement to overcome their sins and help to be rehabilitated.

Shelter the Homeless ► There are many people who are homeless. ► There are many homeless families. ► We need to ensure they have a safe place to rest.

Visit the Sick ► Many people, when they are sick, find it hard to care for all the needs they have. ► They may need to get groceries, cook meals for family, or take care of small children. ► We can encourage them and help them with their recoveries.

Bury the Dead Because the body is sacred, it deserves proper burial after death and will one day be resurrected.

Service Project What have you done for your service projects? Have they been works of mercy? What can you do to participate in the works of mercy?
