Bush Designates Sept. 11 th as ‘Patriot Day’ The resolution calls for government buildings to lower the flag half staff and for Americans to observe a moment of silence in remembrance for the nearly 3,300 people who died in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania on Sept. 11

President Bush says Americans “will never forget the debt we owe” to those fighting the war on terror. It is a deep debt.
