Is Odysseus a hero? Fidelity vs. Socially Permissible Actions Heroic Deeds vs. Divine Assistance Leadership vs. Pride

Tragic Flaw The “tragic flaw” is a common element of literature and of life. The “tragic flaw” is the single defect that ends up hurting the hero/ine: –Samson = Lust –Lindsey Jacobellis = Pride? –Odysseus = Hubris??

Hubris = Dangerous Pride Hubris is pride that sets up the individual for destruction. Remember: “Pride goes before the fall…”  Lindsey Jacobellis
