CHURCH OF GOD INJAMAICA CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SUMMIT. KEYNOTE ADDRESS KEYNOTE ADDRESS WHAT IS CHRISTIAN EDUCATION?

 “That all persons become aware of God in all the ways he makes himself know, especially through his son Jesus Christ; that they come to know what their human situation means; respond in faith to Christ Jesus, receive nurture and help from his body the church and live a fruit filled life of discipleship and service, in obedience to the Great Commission.” DEFINITION OFCHRISTIAN EDUCATION?

ELEPHANT AND THE BLIND MEN

Christian Education PRECEDES Evangelism, in God’s scheme of things.  GOD’S PIONEER EDUCATOR - THE PIONEER MISSIONARY – HAS TO GO IN AND SOW THE SEEDS THAT WILL PROVIDE THE FOUNDATION AND THE [FERTILE] SOIL FOR THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPEL OF JESUS TO BE PROCLAIMED

AWARENESS OFGOD PRECEDES AWARENESS OF SELF  THIS REVELATION CLARIFIES MY HUMAN SITUATION; THE FACT THAT I AM A SINNER, AND THAT I LIVE IN A SIN AFFECTED WORLD.

FUNCTIONING CHURCH ‘BODY OF CHRIST’ IS A BASIC NECESSITY FOR NURTURE, TRANSFORMATION AND DISCIPLESHIP TO TAKE PLACE. NO HOLY SPIRIT - ORDERED AND ADMINISTERED GIFTS ; NO GROWTH, NO TRANSFORMATION NOFRUIT.

 Obedience to Christ and the fulfillment of the Great Commandment is impossible without knowledge of God’s word and keen awareness of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence.

 DEFINITION # 2  "A Bible based, Holy Spirit empowered (Christ centered), teaching and learning process  That seeks to guide individuals to all levels of growth through contemporary teaching means.

 Christ, the Master Educator's Example and Command to make mature disciples."  Mark 1: 17 “Come follow me,” Jesus said “and I will make you fishers of men”

 A. The real objective of Christian Education is the development of mature [Ephesians 4: 1 – 16] students of God and his Word who will continue to learn effectively.

 C. E. goal and objective is the TRANSFORMATION of people. Our purpose then, is to work with people and not just theories and ideas [Eph. 4:11] .

 Matthew 28:19-20  Go, MAKE DISCIPLES, AND TEACH THEM TO OBSERVE.  Our call is to teach others and make others what we already are, disciples of Christ.

 We are talking about an educational concept that has its roots in Scripture and God's dealings with the Israelites back to Genesis 18. It deals with Christ and His Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5, 6, 7) and Paul's emphasis on learning in Acts 18..  CHRISTIAN EDUCATION IS BIBLICAL.

 It is definitely a teaching-learning process with a definite purpose and measurable results. Deuteronomy 4:10, 2 Timothy 3:10- 15, Colossians 1:28, 2:7, 1 Peter 2:2 and Luke 2:40 are all passages of Scripture that give the impression that growth, learning, and maturity were assumed goals of all children of God. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION IS EDUCATION.

 Christ is the central focus and theme of our educational process. The Word of God is the absolute and final source for all truth and life. The Holy Spirit. He is our guide into all truth and accomplishes this task through His indwelling presence in the life of every believer CHRISTIAN EDUCATION IS CHRISTIAN.
