I put a great deal of time and effort into that piece of paper and the least he could have done was give me credit!”

-Show teacher thinking The teacher is angry with her colleague and she feels she sue him for copyright infringement.

-show a html screen - A professor is creating standards for a new distance learning class. The professor is getting paid, using the universities technology and software, and this is part of their job description, but who owns these standards – the professor or the university?

-Show a girl going dizzy -What is this theft called? Can anyone stop this??

- The term intellectual properties is part of the U.S. Constitution (art. 1, sec. 8) which protects these properties by giving protection of exclusive rights “to promote the progress of science and useful arts by securing for limited times the authors and inventors the exclusive rights to their respective writings and discoveries” (Nemire, 2007).

-There are also laws, offices, & organization to protect these rights. -Say names as they fly across the screen: Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (DMCA), Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization (TEACH) act of 2001, Copyright Office, American Library Association, World Intellectual Properties Organization (WIPO), & Center for Academic Integrity, just to name a few.

-Show little child -Little child asks: “so do we want to copyright everything?”

-NO! Give brief explanation that copyrighting all material can cut down on collaboration and further understanding of ideas of thoughts.

-Show adult -“Ok, but I am still not sure if this intellectual properties thing is good or bad still.”

Barry is the executive producer of the website, Soundzaboud.com. Barry is also very knowledge about concerning copyright law of information that is web-based which would fall under intellectual properties law.
