Habitat! Need grass, shade, and water Won’t go were there isn’t water They drink occasionally Found in Southern, Northern, and Eastern Africa Live in mountains They live where there is 10 inches of rain or more for a year
Appearance Ox-like 65 inches tall from the shoulder 1650 to 1760 Biggest in East Africa Male’s horns 1.5 meters but females also grow horns Front feet are larger because the front end is heavier than the back end West African Buffalo: reddish in color, smaller, called bush cow and has poor narrow horns
Eating Habits! They are grazers Herbivorous Moves during the night to feed

Predators : Humans, lions & Big Crocodiles Live in herds up to several 1,000 They live up to 18 years Have first their calf at 5 years old Only 20% of calves live to adulthood They are pregnant for 9-11 months They are dangerous if they are cornered or wounded They have never been domesticated Hard to shoot because the horns cover the head Calves nurse for a year & are totally dependent on mom Congregate in thousands in the Serengeti during the rainy season
