What is a webcam? A webcam is basically a video camera that has a connection with your computer. Hook it up, turn it on, and you can make videos that will be transferred to your computer or others with webcams, even your phone. You can use it for other things, like YouTube, applications, Skype, Facebook, , Or surveillance for your computer to watch what happens.

How do webcams work? It captures light through a tiny lens called a charge coupled device. The C.C.D converts images in front of the camera into a digital format, then taking it to your computer through U.S.B cables. The U.S.B cables then take the image to the internet from the webcam. Then it uploads it to your computer. Some webcams are built into the computers.
