ISSUES * Pornography * Cryptography * Illegal marketing scams (pyramid scams, get rich quick, immigration scams) * "Mayhem manuals" and recipes for explosives or poisons * Racist hate mail

OBSTACLES * Each site has many pages * Many URLs change daily or hourly * Many URLs are dynamic and return different data each time they are queried 500 new web sites added every minute

# OF SITES BUILT  83 sites per second  500 sites per minute  30,000 sites per hour  720,000 sites per day  21,600,000 sites per month  259,200,000 a year

FILTERING Address Filtering ­ Maintain a list of known good sites ­ Maintain a list of known bad sites ­ Apply filtering in a router to permit or deny Firewalls ­ Use some kind of application relay technology running on a firewall host

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY Understand how the internet works Teach your children internet, teach them to use browsers that have filters i.e. (So they look up to you as a teacher) Put proxy on your own computer Put the computer in the living room Help your kid to make his or her own site Establish certain hours for your child to use the internet

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY When they grow up, go to their schools, check their friends Instill Islamic Values and introduce them to Islamic Sites Do not underestimate your kid knowledge, but guide their values and remove the proxy from your computer when they get older
