THREE CUPS OF TEA By Greg Mortenson

Directions  Students will create a journal for their reading of the novel Three Cups of Tea.  Due on Thursday, 4/5/12.  Students must complete activities for each day of reading.  Include a Table of Contents  Must create a cover with the title/author of the book, a detailed image for the book, and the student’s name.

Journal #1: Chapter 1  Define:  Expedition  Summit  Amber  Setting: Complete the graphic organizer to describe the setting in the novel.

Journal #2: Chapter 2-4  Define/Identify  Muslim  Malnutrition  Antibiotic  Create a timeline of events in Chapters 1-3 (about 5 events).  Describe 3 events in Mortenson’s childhood.

Journal #3: Chapter 4-7  Define/Identify  Medic  Nonprofit  Yak  Describe each character with 1 action and 3 adjectives:  Greg  Haji Ali  Jean Hoerni

Journal #4: Chapter 7-10  Define/Identify  Inshallah  Braldu River  Board  Select 1 event to describe (words or images). Explain what this event says about the Balti people.  Taking Tea  The Hunt  Building the Bridge

Journal #5, Chapters  Define/Identify  Media  Laudable  Empower  Select 1 quote from the book so far that represents a theme of the book. Write the quote down. Illustrate the quote or explain, in your own words, why this quote represents the theme of the book.
