BELL RINGER: Today’s lab deals with Newton’s 3 rd Law; an equal but opposite reaction. A good example of this is punching a wall. Can you break your hand if you punch a wall hard enough? Why? AGENDA: 1.Bell Ringer 2.Alka-Rocket Lab 3.Graph data on a separate piece of paper Fact of the day: People who talk to themselves are more likely to have a high IQ. ALKA ROCKET LAB

Alka-Rocket Lab Essential Question: What is the relationship between the amount of Akla-Seltzer used and the time the pressure builds (launching) and flight of the rocket (flight)? Student Jobs: 1.Cap Spotter 2.Timers (2x) 3.Recorder Objectives: 1.To compare and collect time the rocket (Dixie cup) is lanching and in flight based on the amount of Alka-Seltzer tablet used. 2.Use data data given to graph and complete a conclusion.

Alka-Rocket Lab How am I graded: BM 1 I can select a single piece of data (numerical or non-numerical) from a simple data presentation. BM 2 I can identify basic features of a table, graph, or diagram. BM 3: I can understand basic scientific terminology. BM 5: I can determine how the value of one variable changes as the value of another variable changes in a simple data presentation. BM 7 I can identify a control in an experiment. Specifics: Graph the following data. The amount of Alka- Seltzer is on the x axis (independent). The time of launch and flight is on the y axis (dependent). Essential Question: What is the relationship between the amount of Akla-Seltzer used and the time the pressure builds (launching) and flight of the rocket (flight)?
