 “Your task is to analyze the current offerings in the market and design this novel product that meets the Company Lock’s requirements. This lock must meet the needs of the customer better than any other offering on the market.”  Potential ability to scale the idea,  Manufacturability,  Sell-ability of the product to the masses,  Security to uphold its reputation,  Ease of use with limited instructions,  Must have two unique functions, a key mechanism, and optional remote controlled.

 Alarm System  Magnetism Lock  App-unlock capability  Small enough to be a keychain  Stowaway cable (inside the lock casing)

After browsing competitors and similar products, we came up with a set of specifications to design our multiple concepts towards.  Approx 10-12mm cable  Industry average = 10  1-3 ft cable  3-4 dial combination  Push-In lock  Ability to lock without putting in combination

 Housing and lock mechanism modeled after bike lock Cable is smaller than normal bike lock, mimicking more of a portable snowboard lock.  Added alarm system makes-up for lack of strength of cable

 Piezo Buzzer PS1240  $1.15 per bulk unit  LR44 1.5V Button-Cell battery (x2)  >$1 per bulk unit  Anylite 10x1cm solar cell  <$1 per bulk unit  Braided steel and rubber casing  $.61 - $.94 per foot  Conductive Copper film (x2 layers) and other wire components  $.11 - $.20 per foot  Coated steel casing  >$1 per bulk unit  Lock Components  $1.02 – $1.19 per bulk set

Available sizes of cable (length) Pre-tensioned cable (coils on its own) Powered by 2 very small batteries, recharged by a small solar cell, just like the ones used in calculators. Pointed end allows lock to engage without putting the combination in initially. Tumbler mechanism based on rotating, movable shaft Semi-unique lock mechanism Only alarm-capable lock available
