Mars Facts Mars is the forth planet from the Sun, and is the smallest planet after Mercury. It is about 141,600,000 miles away from the Sun. That is 5,686 times around the earth!

Temperature Average temperature is -67°F High is about 68°F at noon in the summer at the equator Low is about -243°F at the poles!

Atmosphere The atmosphere of Mars is mostly carbon dioxide.

Terrain The terrain has mountains, volcanos, craters and more! The ground on Mars is made of iron dioxide.

Phobos and Deimos Phobos and Deimos are the names of Mars’ moons. Phobos is falling apart.

Rover A Mars rover is an motored vehicle that moves itself across the surface of Mars. Opportunity and Curious (active) Spirit and Sojourner (in-active) Most of what we know is from the rovers. Now, the rovers are looking for life!
