Aztecs Achievements

Introduction

Science and Technology One of the Aztecs most remarkable achievements was building their capital Tenochtitlan. Enlarged the area by creating islands called chinampas. They also adapted the Mayan solar and sacred calendar. The 365-day solar calendar was useful for farming since it tracked seasons.

Arts and Architecture Aztec poets sung their poems or recited them to music. Sometimes actors preformed them by creating a dramatic show with a dialogue or costumes. Aztecs were gifted painters, they used brilliant colors to create scenes showing gods and religious ceremonies.

Language and Writing Spoken language was raised to an art form in Aztec society The vocabulary of their language, Nahuatl, allowed speakers to create new words and describe concepts that were abstract. Scribes used writing to list data and outside events since they didn’t have enough glyphs and pictographs.
