Enrollment Outlook and Trends

Enrollment Trends for High School Students SOURCE: U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics, Common Core of Data CCD),"State Nonfiscal Survey of Public Elementary/Secondary Education," 2011–12; and Public State Elementary and Secondary Enrollment Model: 1980–2012. See Digest of Education Statistics 2013, table table

Enrollment Outlook 8 Marymount has experienced fluctuations in enrollment in all three areas for the past few years Demographic shifts and changes in the economy impacted enrollment both positively and negatively College enrollment declined by close to half a million (463,000) between 2012 and 2013, marking the second year in a row that a drop of this magnitude has occurred, according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics from the Current Population Survey

Enrollment Outlook 9 Families are increasingly price sensitive -Average middle income family spent less on college in than in (Sallie Mae’s ‘14 “How America pays for College” survey) Impact of negative press is helping to create inaccurate perceptions -Borrowing for educational expenses is increasingly seen as a bad thing, making students loan averse -The ROI of a college education (including advance degrees) is increasingly being called into question
