Finally it was time for school camp! I ran to the car buzzing with joy. We got to school and put our things in the trailer. I was sitting in the hall so exited. Think; pouring rain, wet and muddy caves, beautiful waterfalls, yummy cookout, and talent galore! I wanted to get going to have the best camp ever.

Finally we were at Camp Kaitawa. No more bumpy roads until Friday. It was pouring with rain when we got there. We went for a walk to the surge chamber, power station and a rain forest. When we got back to camp we were SOAKED! After dinner a lady from doc came to talk to us about the birds and predators. She bought in a kiwi egg, but it was fake, a ferret, stoat and a kiwi. They were stuffed animals. She also bought in a trap. It was so loud. I learnt so many facts like England bought in the ferrets and stoats. It was so interesting.

Time for the big walk. The one that was 6 hours; NGAMOKO! It was so much fun. We stopped at the rata tree. It was 800 to 1000 years old. On the walk we got Moro bars, barley sugars and scroggin. We got up to 1050m above sea level. It was so tiring. When we got to the bottom we had to walk back to the campsite. That night we watched a movie. It was called ice age 3. It was funny. Lots of kids went to bed half way through, but I watched to the end.

The day for the wet and muddy caving. We walked to see Michael Noonan’s grave. There was also 9 month old baby and a 43 year old man. On the way we saw a prison, everybody went and looked at it. When everybody saw the grave we walked back to have lunch then we drove to the caves. When we got there we started. It was so much fun. We went through 6 caves. I think the best was the one was where you had to go down a ladder to get to it. That was so hard. It was dark in the cave. There was a part where I did not know where to put my feet and felt like I was going to slip because it was so slippery but I got to the top. We came to the same spot 3 times. When we got to the car park we had to take off our shoes and put them in someone's ute. Then we got a freedo frog. It was yum.

Time for the last walk of our camp. We walked to Lake Waikareiti. When we got there we had morning tea in this little room. We all started singing we will rock you, it was so funny. After we had finished we went and had lunch on this big trailer. After we walked to the falls. It was so cool. We looked at them on this cliff. There were 2 falls, the back one was the shape of a v. When we finished we went back and did our confidence course. Then we did our cookout. My group made nachos. They were the best. When we finished we went back to the camp and did our talent night. It was so much fun. My group won it. We got 10 points. It was awesome.

Yah! Today we get to go home I cant wait. The parents had to tidy up so the kids had to go the tennis court. The girls played truth dare and double dare. After that we played tag it was so much fun. Then before we left we got told what group won. The group that won it was the Kiwi’s. After that it was time to go. We hopped in the car. The people that were in my car was Charlotte, Jack, Eilis and me. On the way home everyone stopped at Wairoa for hot chips. We got to play on the play ground first then got in our groups and had our hot chips. When we finished we left and stopped at Tutira dairy for ice blocks. I got a coke one, it was so nice. After that we set off and finally got to school. Finally we are home. I got my things and reflect on everything that happened. I would love to do that again!
