Just like in English, we modify our nouns to show when there is more than one involved. In English, most of the time we simply add S to the end of the word. There are LOTS of exceptions to that rule in English, though!
Rules and Exceptions Spanish has only 3 rules and 2 exceptions to those rules. It’s pretty easy to remember once you get the hang of it...
Rule #1 If a word ends with a vowel, you simply add S to the end of the word. abrazo gato maestro oso pollo maestra
Rule #2 If a word ends with a consonant, you add ES to the end of the word. canción actor doctor papel coraz ón
Exceptions A. Any word that ends with a Z must change the Z to a C and then follow Rule #2. l ápiz B. The article el (which means “the”) does not follow Rule 1 or Rule 2. It changes to los.
Rule #3 Don’t forget, if you change a word’s number, you have to change the article before the word so it all matches! el la
Let’s try these together... el gato la vaca la medicina el perro el escritorio el triangulo
